Same old, same old

I've been starting to oekaki again recently. For those of you (all three of you who read this thing) who don't know, oekaki is the Japanese word for "doodle", and on the internet, when used by Anglo-types, it refers to drawings done on Java applications typically referred to as "oekakis". (Probably since the Japanese came up with them and doodled a lot, but I don't know that for sure.)

Anyway, my haunt is OekakiCentral; the cool thing about it is that you can watch videos of the artist's progress through their pictures. I joined up five years ago - when I was eleven, so understandably the site's gone through some changes. Sadly, in this case, it's a lot quieter. I miss drawing bad images and getting encouragement and praise, and learning to point out the different flaws artists make, and being part of a community.

Anyway. Pictures!

My first picture back was this lazy greyscale image of an emo-looking girl. To be fair, I was aiming for a slightly deranged look of blood veins throbbing from the surrounding area of the eye, but it looks like red emo tears. Meh.

Her nose is huge.

Second post back was this picture - Oekaki ate it because it was done in 10 minutes, which was the minimum time allotment to prevent spam.

I don't know. I'd lie and say this is what I see in my dreams, but this is closer to what I see when I close my eyes when I'm really sleep deprived or really meditative in Chemistry classes.

I wanted to try the cool contrasting shading that all the cool kids were doing, but kind of failed at it. At least she looks pretty. And her nose is huge as well...sigh.

Tried a larger canvas this time: 350x350px instead of 300x300! OMG! Third picture back at oekaki and I'm already getting ambitious. I'm such an overachiever.

Aand it's another landscape, this time in grey instead of green and pink. I have to admit that I used to do a lot of landscapes and females, as that's what is easy to draw.

I had some other pencil sketches done from when I was supposed to be doing chemistry homework, but I have not had the time patience to scan and edit and optimize them, so I'll post them later when I've got an awesome large sketch like the duckie.

And there it is! Another update before a month passed! I'd work harder at this art thing, but I'm...tired. And doing an art project. So there.
